The boy isn't riding the board right now. Instead, eyes closed, he is picturing the day he will race off on it like the wind. He is still clumsy and will fall again and again, but for a child holding a dream, that is nothing to fear.
The work recalls the childhood nights almost everyone has known — falling asleep holding something you longed for close to your heart. And it quietly asks what dream we hold in our arms now.

이 아이는 아직 스케이트보드를 잘 타지 못합니다. 아마 몇 번이고 넘어지고, 무릎이 까지기도 했을 거예요.
그래도 아이는 보드를 내려놓지 않습니다. 오히려 두 팔로 꼭 끌어안고, 눈을 감은 채 웃습니다. 마음속에서는 이미 바람을 가르며 달리고 있기 때문입니다.
꿈이란 그런 것이라고 생각합니다. 아직 손에 잡히지 않아도, 서툴러서 자꾸 넘어져도, 품에 안고 있는 것만으로 사람을 웃게 하는 것. 그 마음이 다시 일어설 힘이 되어 줍니다.

Still, he won't put the board down. Instead he hugs it tight with both arms and smiles with his eyes closed — because in his heart he is already racing through the wind.
I think that is what a dream is. Even if it is not yet within reach, even if you keep falling because you're still clumsy, simply holding it makes you smile. And that feeling gives you the strength to get up again.
Someday, when this child has grown and the board has become too small, I hope he will still close his eyes, smile like today, and hold at least one dream to his heart. I wish the same kind of dream for everyone who sees this work.
